How do you view behaviour?

Jun 27, 2023

When I started working with sensory processing, I used to separate behaviours off. Ah it’s not sensory it’s behaviour! That is because I used to have different categories and perceptions of behaviours which I was imposing on the behaviour.

How did I change that? I learnt in more depth about the nervous system and how it can respond. Not only that, I reflected on when I was actually using my clincial knowledge and when I was putting my perception onto a behaviour for example, attention, purposeful etc.

The biggest tip as a parent I can give you is to think about if you are putting your perceptions onto behaviours you are seeing? Do you think it is a certain behaviour but your partner thinks its another? That’s perception. Take a step back and think, WHY has that behaviour happened and WHAT is their nervous system telling you?
